My 93 z28 reaches almost redline after about 5-10 miles city traffic driving but cools way down wen i get on open road speeds of about 65+ just wondering if this is something i should worry about

Definitely worry about it. I had a 95 that used to behave like that when the fan motor would die. I don't know if it was the cheap replacement fan motors I used or bad electrical.
