Default Help... Electrical or Fuel Problem?

My friend jus bought a 93 Z28.. Its all stock except for a SLP cold air intake...
The prob is sometimes while ur drivin down the road it jus dies on you.
Let it cool a min and it fires right up..
It will idle all day long wit no prob tho...
Any suggestions?
Another friend of mine says cud b the knock sensor?
Any help appreciated

How long has it been since the car has had a good "tune up" (spark plugs, wires, fuel filter etc.)? The fuel filter could be clogged. I would give it some good normal maintenance and then if the problem persists start checking fuel pressure etc.

Not real sure about plugs or wires....
But we did change the fuel filter so that rules that out i guess..

What about the knock sensor?
I know where it is and kinda what it does but could someone give specific details?

If the knock senor is giving false knock it is going to retard the ignition timing. I wouldn't think the PCM would retard it so much that the car would just turn off. If you've replaced the fuel filter check the fuel pump and the pressure at the fuel rails.

The fuel pump is working correctly and we are getting the right amount of fuel pressure at the fuel rails......

Any other suggestions??????

spark plugs, coil, ignition modual, opti, ignition switch, bad connection to any of these. have u scanned it for trouble codes? ses light on?

We're workin on that but I don't own a code reader that will scan OBD1 lol
One of my mechanic friends says he can read it for us tomorrow so i guess we'll see.....

u dont need a scanner with these. u short the a and b terminal on the dignostic plugin. its down at the bottom of the dash by the gas peddle. should be the first two connector holes on the upper passenger side. if im not explaning this very well google it and u should get some info. anyways when u scann it u just turn the key on, do not start, short the terminals and watch the ses light it will blink to tell u what the trouble code number/s is. first it will blink a 12 then it will do the codes.
