Default Heads/Rocker/Pushrod Install

Hello Everyone,

First off, I'm glad to see that there are so many Camaro enthusiasts who share a passion for these cars.

In saying so I need help keeping my 95 Z28 (60K Miles) alive.

Long story short, I blew a head gasket and had to have the heads rebuilt. I'm almost comlete with the project but I ran into a problem when I was installing the pushrods/rockers. Without the supervision of my more inclined (mechanic) cousin, I began tightening rocker bolt without turning the engine and I overtightened them as well. I immediately realized my mistake when the 4th pushrod bent when tightening.

I have bought replacment pushrods but my concern is that I could have bent a valve as well. The remaing project will be completed with some experienced help but I need to know if we should be concerned about the valves?

Your response is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

The valves are much tougher than the pushrods, and I doubt you caused any valve damage by overtightening the rockers, as long as you did not run the engine.

Yeah, that "tighten the rocker arm until the pushrod starts to bow, then back off one half turn" technique never really caught on!
Do you know how to do it now? http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...nfo/index.html

Okay great! The engine did not run after I installed anything so I think I should be good.

Thanks for the link and yes I now have some help from someone who has done this before. Hopefully I'll have some pics up once its all done.
