I believe 94 and 95 will default to the MAP as well, I know for a fact that the car does not use the MAF when it's in open loop mode, and the car runs in open loop on startup every time, so I would only assume that it would work without the MAF plugged in.

More than likely if the MAF is messed up, when you unplug it, you will see nothing, or a slight improvement in idle.

If the MAF is already throwing a code more than likely the computer is already ignoring it. You should be able to unplug the MAF and the car should run, it's going to run a bit rich working off of the MAP and preset fuel tables, but you should be able to drive it and it should idle fine.

ok, update on my situation, on friday i finally installed my O2 sensors and the car seemed to work really good. Yesterday, Sunday night i was driving my car and i noticed that the car wasnt shifting normal(automatic). it's reving higher then when it does throw me the next gear, it shifts hard. i know its not my transmission cuz its like 6 months old and it never did that before. Any ideas? and as for hte MAF sensor, i replaced it twice like two months ago. the first time i was going on the freeway and it began to hesitate badly and the check engin light came on so i immidiately pulled over and took it to a mechanic because the car wasnt drivable. they told me it was the MAF sensor and they replaced it and the car worked fine for three weeks then it began to do the same thing and i took it to a diffrent shop and they told me it was the MAF sensor again. The shop told me that if it did that again, there was something wrong with my car computer. Any ideas?

my guess would be that if you got a new one twice and both failed that its wiring along the way not the MAF itself but im no electrical wiz. As for the shifting hard what RPMs is it shifting at and how much pressure are you putting on the pedal when it shifts hard?

My Trans am had a bad O2 sensor after it blew the head gasket. When it was first running it ran fine but once it got to around 200 degrees it started running bad and popped the service engine soon light. I still think mine might have one bad O2 sensor cause i only replaced one side. After reading this and hearing the symptoms i might have to scan and check the other. Cause my car has a surge/hesitation when imat lower rpmor just pulling out

Do you come to a complete stop when you put it in drive?
