Are you still in the trial fitting stage, or do you have them set in place for real? The best way would be to mark the header pipe above and below the steering shaft with a sharpie, remove the header, lay a steel thick wall pipe over the tube between the two lines, and give it a few love taps with a hammerfer to make a slight dimple. It doesn't look like it needs very much "persuasion".

Yea, just give it a little hit with a mall. When I was looking for install instructions for my headers I read a guy's install guide and the header was rubbing the steering column.
He just bent the header a bit and that solved it.

^ I know, it would be so easy for the manufacturer to whack it with a hammer instead. But seriously, r6's issue could be something as simple as a worn/compressed motor mount.....and probably is the more I think about it.

Well, don't you think that the flex of the motor will still allow the header to hit??
I mean, just my two cents. Because it doesn't look too bad, but you can love tap it and free it, but rev the motor too much and it will hit every time. Obviously they have a flaw with the manufacture of the header.

Torque of the motor makes it want to lift up on the drivers side. If there's any "give" in the mount, that would pull the header tube away from the steering shaft. So if he clearanced the tube, it won't hit when he revs the engine.

That does make sense. My buddy's Fox bodies wiggle both ways that is why I didn't know. And their motor mounts were new. Seems like I have strayed away from Camaros too long and been around mustang guys in the mean time. Hopefully it goes without issues to get this project going.
