Default Header help

Are there any street legal long tube headers for an 1995 LT1 Camaro for California? I see a lot of them that say they have the EGR things but they don't say they are legal. Thanks.

if it says it has egr and a.i.r. they are legal, unless you need the "C.A.R.B." approved sticker or something

All long tube headers are illegal in California. You can run a 50-state legal shorty, but that's about it.

yup...cali doesn't allow you to move the location of the cat and longtubes do that

Technically by Federal Law you are not allowed to relocate any emissions equipment on an vehicle that had emissions equipment from the factory. Long tube headers are specifically outlawed in California, you cannot get a CARB number for a long tube, so they can only be 49 state legal at most. Even if you didn't have to relocate cats they still wouldn't let you have them in Cali.

Man that sucks. I found some CARB headers but they were like $1500! besides, the shortys wont do me to much good I think. Oh well.

Shorties and a good mandrel bent Y-pipe will flow almost as good as long tubes, but you won't get the benefit of the extra low end torque that long tubes get you. You'll make almost as good of high end HP numbers though. It's definitely worth it to replace the restrictive stock Y-pipe and manifolds, even if you can't go with long tubes.

yeah cali would suck for owning a nice car. but like slvr said...shorty's would be MUCH better than the stock manifolds and almost anything is better than the stock y-pipe
