Default Head and Cam package

I wanna get my 95 Z28 puttin about 350-375 rwhp on the ground but I don't know where to find a good head and cam package. I'm not great with engines and I don't wanna screw up picking this stuff out and end up wasting my money and my time. The snows starting to melt here in saskatchewan and I'd like to have my car in the shop before the end of the month. So, if anybody has some suggestions on which camshaft and heads work good together, and a good intake to get to throw it all together, that'd be great.

My sugeestion would be to get a set of AFR 220 heads and an LT4 intake manifold (if you can find one), or modify the LT1 manifold. The other option is to port the existing heads. As for the cam, go with a custom grind, call one of the cam companies, tell them what you have and what you want to accomplish and they will spec a cam for you. You will need to get the PCM tuned atherwise all the work you did will go to waste.

You will probably get around 500 flywhhel HP around 6500-7000 RPM. However, combining a really big cam the stock torque converter and the stock rear end, will cause the engine to bog down at low RPM. I would use at least a 3000 stall converter and at least 3.75 rear end gears. Keep in mind that the torque converter or rear end gears do nothing for horsepower, but allow the engine to operate where the big cam is most happy and keep the engine singing. With this setup you going to get serious traction problems and you will need to do a lot of chassis tuning to keep up with your engine. Furthermore, the entire drive train will have to beefed up to handle the additional power.
Have fun.

if you want a good head and cam package go with either a Llyod elliot package or a Advanced Induction package, both are great bang for the buck. Also either package will get you in the 370rwhp range if not higher, depending on your mods.

my hunch would be that this was either never done, already done, or the car has been sold since the thread was started over 3 years ago
