Head and Cam info.
Ok so i've been saving money to put a set of heads and cam in my car. I've finally got the money and now that i'm ready to buy. BUTi have no idea what i'm gonna buy... So my father wants me tospend the time to find out why certain heads are made one way and others another. so i've been searching all night for an article that will explain the intricate points of engine heads. Guess what!I'velearned alot about specific heads and what they can make but nothing about heads in general. if anyone wants to explain or point me in the right direction that would be great. I want to make my camaro somewhere between 400hp and 450hp and still be a daily driver. Would Loyd Elliots LE2 set workor would it be to aggressive?? any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Kyle

RE: Head and Cam info.
Talk to Lloid Elliot & tell them what you want to do with your car. They will recommend the proper heads and custom grind a cam to match. They do good work.
IMO head design is a sort of black art, even with computer models. If you interested, give this book a try "Vehicular Engine Design" by Kevin L. Hoag

RE: Head and Cam info.
I have recenty installed a set of off road hooker long tubes on my 97 Z. I had to bypass the EGR and the AIR, I am ready to install the heads and cam. I need to know who I can send my computer to to have the AIR and the EGR deleted to pass an OBDII inspection. any advise would be great.

RE: Head and Cam info.
It will fail the visual inspection, and the test equipment will query for the egr and not find it and fail it. Same with the AIR. It wil also fail the readiness test (drive cycle).
