Harmonic Balancer
How do I get it off. I try to take the bolts off andthe balancerjust spins. I know this is a dumb question and if I spent enough time I could figure it out. Any help would be great. Also I cannot get the fuel lines off the intake manifold, I have spent countless hours with the disconnect tool and nothing.

You could get a good grip on the serp belt and try to keep the damper from going around, but I really never tried that. If you have a manual transmission, put it in 5th or 6th and it will hold the crank from spinning. You could use an impact wrench and you should have no problems. Also, you can try using a breaker bar and rapping it with a hammer, andshock the bolts loose like an impact wrench does. There is a also a toot that you place over the bolt, and hit the tool with a hammer to loosen the bolt.

Hey I got the balancer off, now I'm trying to get the hub off. I need to get the middle bolt. The repair manuall says to put a large screwdriver into the flywheel/driveplate but there has to be a better way than that cause I don't want to drop the tranny. Thanks for the help.

RE: Harmonic Balancer
The manuals aren't quite clear on how to remove the hub. The hub is not fully open on the bottom. There is just a hole for the bolt to go through, so id you use a regular puller the screw will rest at the bottom of the hub and not against the crankshaft nose if it should. The easy way, loosen the the retaining bolt about 1/4" then use the puller resting the screw against the head of the bolt. Repeat several times till the hub is all the way out. There is no need to drop the tranny to hold the flex plate from turning, just remove the bottom cover under the torque converter and yo will have access to the flex plate, use a small crowbar into the teeth of the flexplate and jam it against the side of the bell housing.
