Default Gears

I have a 96 z28 Camaro 6spd. I want some opinions on what i should get for gears.. I was thinking 4.10 gears but some people have said get 3.73's.. Though maybe i could just get opinions from actual lt1 owners.. I love torque so thats why i was thinking 4.10's.

Even though he has a 50% overdrive? You can't think the same way as you would with an o/d automatic. I have 4.10's, and a six speed would cut my highway rpm's in half. I'd welcome that for sure.

if he is just looking for a little more torque then 373's will deliver without a large lose in mpg. if he is gona try to run some good times at the track like you 69 then 410's would be the way to go.

well its a everyday driver mostly in the summer.. winter if no snow or wet roads.. But i live in a small town and i take it on the interstate maybe 3 or 4 times a year... and my lt1 has some pretty crappy gas mileage right now anyways.. so i was thinking maybe 4.10's.. I most definitely want more torque though..

Yep, then I say 4:10's too. Another thing to consider, lower rear gears gets the car moving forward with less effort from the engine.
You could actually get better around town gas mileage. But I'll bet your right foot is going to enjoy those gears a lot, and won't let that happen. ;

My 66 Mustang had 4:11s and while nothing could touch me off the line I was floating the valvetrain at about 100 mph. Granted I only had a 4speed but still I didnt have much top end and my freeway driving was a killer in the MPG department. Now I didnt do too bad around town since I could get 35-40 MPH at 1200 rpm without bogging down the engine.

^ Just think how nice it would have been to have a 6-speed in that car, cutting the highway rpm's in half.
