gas tank
 

i need to get to the fuel pump, do i have to drop the gas tank, is so, how do i get the gas tank down? in a real crisis here.

you have a couple couises, drop the tank which involves dropping the rearend and exhaust and is the way gm calls for it to be done.
or you can cut a hole, also known as the hatch mod.

well yah it could be if your doing it with a sawzall. i have not done it yet but people have used heavy duty tin snips, some use air powered cutter.

i took the tank out when i did mine, just couldnt bring myself to cutting a hole. its a little bit of work. but could all probly be done in a day.

what do u do aboot the hole? weld it up or cover it so you can access it later? i guess method two would only be for those who dont mind the sent of gas in there interior.....

lol yah you make a lid for it, seal with sealer and screw it down.

This was on my 91, but the concept is still the same. After getting it that far (with an air cut-off tool), I decided I didn't want to cut the lines and flare the high pressure supply line to connect it back together the right and safe way. So, I ended up dropping the tank anyway. I made a cover out of a new piece of sheet metal, then siliconed/screwed it down.
