Fpr
my car has been acting up lately, been really hard to start and when you give it more than 1/4 throttle it falls on its face. i tested the fuel pressure regulator to see if fuel came out and it didnt, just air did. i had the fuel pressure checked and it said 12lbs but im not sure how reliable the guage was or the person doing it. i thought it was the fpr because if the fuel pump was bad i figured it would just go out and not kinda go out. the car is a 1996 camaro Z28.
if your getting 12 lbs max then id say the pump is toast. usually when the fpr goes its will get up to 35 or so and drop fast when power is cut. at least thats what mine did. fuel pump can go all the way or sorta. lol
jump fuel pump relay and check flow,so much fuel in however many seconds, then jump relay and check pressure, engine off you should get max pressure since vacuum pulls pressure down via regulator.now you know flow rate and if pump reaches max pressure.filter will cause low pressure and flow issuse,so will pump, but not regulator its not involved when testing this way, goodluck
I changed the filter and now it will idle better and drive, but I need a new pump im guessing since it dtill isnt 100%. The fuel that came out of the filter was black. It was bad.
