Default Was It Done Properly?!?!

OK, so I am still new to this car (I bought it 09NOV11). It looks like to me, after a little research on the forum here, that the P/O removed the EGR and AIR. He did tell me that there is no CATS (that is some supporting evidence). I am still a nOOb when it comes to emmissions, so what would be a good way to ell if this was done correctly. I have seen mention of getting them tuned out of the PCM. Short of taking it to a reputable exhaust shop, what can I do to make sure this process was done correctly?

93 has a tune chip, 94 up the computer is tuned either by taking it out and sending it to a place like this LT1 PCM Tuning - OBDI/OBDII PCM Tuning/Programming Service or by buying a cable so they can tune themselves.

I am sorry. It is 1994.

How would I know if all the right equipment is taken off. There is a right angle hose (about an inch in diameter) that is coming up from under the block somwhere on the right just behind my CAI. There is a hose that hooks up to the CAI. The hose I am talking about is just open and there is some sort of fan motor I hear when the car is first started that shuts off after it warms a little. Is this the AIR. If so should I plug it/remove it?

Sorry. I don't have any pictures, I am at work right now. I will try to get some uploaded when I get home.

thats the air pump so you have it, the egr is at the rear of the intake manifold. look at number 6 on the list here http://shbox.com/1/component_location_views.html

The EGR valve is on the rear of the intake manifold. The EGR can be disabled by unplugging the pigtail connector on the EGR solenoid OR the whole valve and tube can be removed and replaced with block off plates. Here's what it looks like with the EGR installed.

Here's what it looks like blocked off (Also, the hole for the EGR pipe on the RH exhaust manifold will also need to be blocked off as well).

The AIR pump is mounted to the front of the engine next to the water pump (towards the driver's side). You can delete it by unplugging it or removing the whole pump and metal tubing.

Look for the metal elbow and black AIR check valve on top of your exhaust manifolds.

If the cat was removed, that's not an issue as your car doesn't have a post-cat oxy sensor, therefore no error code will throw. If you unplug the electrical connection to the air pump, the check engine light will go on. That would have to get tuned out to get rid of the error/light. Disconnecting only the hoses from the pump won't trip a code. Disconnecting the vac hose and the EGR valve won't trip a code, but unplugging the solenoid will.

Thanks Catmaigne. OK, so what I am looking at is not the EGR, although I will have to check it out later. I do have Pacesetter headers and am unsure if there is a EGR pipe OR AIR check valve. I will have to check in the morning when it is light out and a little warmer.

This is what I am trying to figure out.

Judging by the location of the AIR pump maybe it is connected to this. Can I just take the air pump off then and plate it? I will post an update as soon as I check out my EGR situation.

thats the end of the air hose thats supposed to go to the exhaust manifold or header. you have headers that do not have the air connections, at leaast i cant see any. i would say the mechanic did not want a ses light so he just left the pump hooked up.
