The light I'm referring to appears on the gauge cluster, on the left side of the speedometer. When I get to 2k, a yellow light comes on that says "Skip Shift"

Which I am pretty sure means go from 1st to 4th....I know that because I drove a 2006 Pontiac GTO with a 6 speed and I was at about 2k and it said skip shift and it MADE me go into 4th gear.

I'm thinking that I need a new MAF....I found some on jegz....And I was wondering if I should get the one with cold air tuning...Not really sure what that means. The car HAS a cold air intake. An SLP CAI. I was wondering if the new CAI is overloading the stock MAF and wore this one out. Is that possible ?

I went to Jegs and I found these:

I just re-read your first post to try and gather some more insight to this issue. One thing that stood out was that the car did this through all gears. I am going to assume that this car is a 6 speed. Have you verified that the wiring is in good shape, the soleniod is still in place? How about the TPS? have you tested it for flat spots? If it has that can throw both codes.

I don't know if the light comes on in all the gears....I think it is just 1-2.

Yea, exactly. But I'm pretty sure the previous owner over rode the skip shift. Which I like.

So that's making me think the MAF is failing....Since that is one of the codes that was showing up.

So the link I provided to jegs has the MAFs for sale. So I think that might be the source of the problem.

I didn't even think when I put the CAI on that it could cause a problem with the MAF.
