maybe when i swapped in the new tranny, but the melted vacum line was melted a few inches from the intake, and not in the loom of wire it goes to. i had issues with slow cranking and smoke from a wire while cranking but i wasnt able to find which one was doing it but im pretty sure it was a ground because when i added a ground from alt to ground post on passengerside fender it cranked normal. i havent really whent thru this car too good yet. i still have plug wires i bought in may that are still in the trunk. and i havent fixed my exhaust leak, which by the way is the side where the line melted. i would like to unclutter my engine bay so i can actually see stuff living in a apartment in lynnwood is killing me! so im not able to get much done, i did do the tranny at least

if you had a bad ground on the charging/starting system it may be that it used the ignition ground and pushed to much amps through it and blew the fuse.

Hey ive had very very simialar problems with my old lt1. My igniton fuse blew, and had some wierd problems. Turns out my coil was bad and the wires that plug into the coil had melted overtime and blew my igniton fuse. Check your coil and the coil wires/pigtail...im sure your problem will be right there....

The opti going bad won't blow a fuse. You have something that is drawing too much power on that circuit. I would suspect either a melted wire / connector or double check those bare wires you found on the ignition module.

im going to take apart the loom that vac line was in. i got some issues someplace, sometimes it cranks slow sometimes it doesnt and the battery is top notch. but im going to really check near the coil and stuff since the ground wires were funny.
