Default ditching the 3800 for a lt1

ok i know that at some point a punk like me get on here asking well what do i need, but im different...iwork for GM and i know what i need so ill spare you the drama. the car im trying to shove it in is a 1998 camaro. im sure your asking why a LT1? why not a LS1. well i like the LT1, its a cast block and modern tech has made the optispark issue a thing of the past... so you Can have your cake and eat it too. and honestly theres very little horsepower difference, and lastly i already have one from a roadmaster. i plan on running a 6 speed trans for ease and it would be fun to drive...not trying to be the fastest and my goals are very realistic. 350hp.so tell me any advice you have!

Based on the dozens of threads that have been posted before about this, I would recommend selling your 3800 and buying a LT1/LS1 powered Camaro...the swap is extremely complex and expensive, and simply not worth it, especially considering how cheap Z28's go for now.

I thought you also had to change the radiator, rearends and something about the fuel pump, not sure but seems like I have read that on here. Good luck with it all.

the cars are motor specific. ull need the under hood wiring harness, under dash wiring harness, transmission, k member, fronts suspension, ecu, and im sure theres more. do a search and ull find one guy thats done it on here. so far those that have done it would not do it again.

...Not to mention, the Roachmaster LT1 has iron heads, which isn't nearly as good as the Camaro/Firebird/Vette LT1 aluminum head engine.

Well, if you are definitely set on doing the swap, then you may as well get the whole donor car. There will be lots of little things that you will probably overlook / forget about until you actually need them.

Im not sure of the purpose for this build, and no offence to LT1 guys but theres a signifigant difference to the LS1.... Weight is huge in our cars since theyre already heavy, why add weight, and the lighter that block the better it can use that hp, it stays cooler and cools down faster, for ex. I have a whole lot of f body friends,,,, stock car i ran 13.2's and 13.3's on street tires in my car... i have just recently driven my buddies on the strip and could only pull 13.88 out of his LT1 6 speed....
~ @ everyone trying to steer you elsewhere, theyre right theres ALOT to this, i almost did it with my old 94 but sold it and bought the SS

the purpose of this build is cause im tired of dumping time and money in a lost cause. and i chose a LT1 it doesnt matter what engine i choose...im still gonna have to re-wire the whole smashim more confident with a LT1
