Distributor connector

Default Distributor connector

I've been working on my dads 95 z28 and he had taken the water pump off to replace it but never put it back on. So anyway I got around to helping him out and put the new one on and everything. Well turns out there is a connector on the bottom passenger side of the distributor and I have no clue where it's at. Can anyone please help me out to where I could locate this in the harness and follow through to see the end of the connector and plug into the bottom of the distributor? Thanks so much this has been some frustrating couple days

There's only one wire harness connector on the opti, and that's on the upper passenger side. 4 plug wires on each side, and 2 vacuum hose connections bottom drivers side, and coil wire connection upper drivers side. What is it that you think you're missing?

Maybe it's just on the engine but it is for sure underneath the opti right by the 2, 4, 6, and 8 plug wires that is empty. I'll take a pic of it a little later

I actually found out that it's not part of the opti. It's the crank position sensor and I can't find the connector. Any clue on where it comes out of the harness at? Like at the top of the engine to wear I can follow it down

Crank position (diagnostic) sensor was a 1996-up feature of the LT1's ignition/computer system. You must have a transplanted engine in your 95. There is no wiring hookup on your car, and your computer won't be looking for it. Just pretend it isn't there.

if water pump went you may be looking at replacing the opti soon.

I believe the engine swapped in did get swapped with the computer and all harness so I'm pretty sure it's there. Also it doesn't run as of right now so I believe that is the problem

Swapping a 96 OBD2 PCM into a 95 OBD1 car would not be easy. Will the car start?

At the moment, no it's doesn't start, but it has been driven with that engine for years

Make sure what you "believe" to be "pretty sure" is in fact truth. Look up the part number of the pcm to make sure it's a 95 or 96. I have a feeling the harness and/or pcm may not have been swapped too, which would explain why you can't find the crank sensor wires. Simply put, the 95 pcm and harness does not need to be changed over to 96 parts for the engine to run correctly. Drop the 96 engine in and abandon (ignore) the engine's crank sensor, it's not needed nor present on the 95's non-OBD2 system.
