Default differential help please

i just pulled the Auburn carrier out of my 95 z28 and found that the cross shaft in the carrier is completely chewed up. my dad says i need a new carrier, in which a replacement on is about $375 but he suggested a pro-series carrier from auburn that is about $450 and helps with traction control. i was at work and my friend with a 5th gen said that a 99-02 torsen carrier will fit in my rear end. he also says that the torsen rear end doesnt have clutch packs so it does not wear out like the auburn ones. idk if he knows that for a fact but it is a lot cheaper (he says like $150 for a used one)... i really need some advice to what i should get or what works well. any suggestions?

Torsen (Toque Sensing) differentials use no clutches. Invented in 1958 by Venon Gleasman. The rumor is that, as used in Camaros, the torsen diff is more prone to breaking more than the clutch type.
