Unhappy Dead in the Water: Transmission Woes

Vehicle: 1995 Z28 M6 'vert

Problem: I was on the freeway doing 60. I wanted to pass someone, so I attempted to shift into 5th. I went into reverse. Now, I have accidentally done this in the past, or rather, it would grind and I would put it in 5th. This time, it seems like it went in, and then I lost all drive to the car.

When stopped, I can put the car into any gear without depressing the clutch. It also has no drive in any of the gears. My question: Is it the clutch, the shift linkage, or something else?

I have no leaks and the trans case is intact. There weren't any grinding noises either. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

sounds like you have internal damage. Remove the trans and open the case to see your shrapnel, most likely you have broken the output shaft.

Oh nice. If I can offer just a little piece of advise...don't throw it in reverse while going forward, at any speed!
That should be a sticky.

Default She lives!!!

Clutch is in and it works.

Question: The clutch pedal seems to be closer to the ground than it was. Any ideas on how to adjust it, or is that just the way a new clutch is? Thanks.
