Default cylinder missing

so my '96 ss is still missing. i went up to the shop to have him put a scanner on it and it showed that cylinder 2 and cylinder 7 was missing.. well actually 7 was pretty much dead. . i had edelbrock shorty headers put on the same time i put on msd 8.5 plug wires. could it be that the wires just got fried from the heat from the headers and have to get new wires on w/ some therma sleeves on them so they don't get so hot? and u can also here the ticking or arcing sound from the #7 plug. and he walso told me that the reason i might be gettin all therse oil leaks is because of oil build up in the throtle body. i guess coming up through the resonator hose? would that be a cause of them? thanks 4 the help.

Did you replace the spark plug connected to the bad wire. Because that plug wasn't getting fired there is a very good chance of it being fouled, and so the misfire continues.

Have you checked the fuel pressure and pressure regulator? How are the injectors? Have you verified that they all are firing?
Also, try the old trick of running the engine at night in the dark and looking for spark flashovers in the engine compartment.

ok welll.. what does the fuel pressure have to do w/ hearing the plug arcing ? and nope there are no flashovers and the fuel pressure is good.

They really have nothing to do with each other except that they both can cause misfires, and so will a bad injector, or an injector not being fired.
