crank hub problems
im having trouble with my crank hub. i made the tool to put it on and i got the hub half way then it would go anymore and it started to ruin my threads. i put a good amount of oil on the hub to help it in. any help would be great casuse im starting to get mad

I had to polish the end of the crank and make a key-way for it just to be safe. That may be an idea for you as well...I also had a much longer bolt cut for it so that it pulls on easily without damaging the treads. This site might help also...

Heating up the hub to expand it would be a good idea. I don't know that the hot water trick would work well though, since the hub will absorb the heat and probably not have enough left to heat it up to expand. What will work better would be to stick the hub in the oven on high for about a half hour or so. Oh.....don't touch it with your hands after that, it'll be a bit toasty!
I've replaced valve guides the same way before. Put the head in the oven to expand it, and put the guides in the freezer to shrink them, then they would slip right in. Now, if you could only get your engine in the freezer...
