Default Cold anti freeze, hot motor??!

so im at a loss yet again with my 93. It'll heat right up (235/240*F) while sitting at a light, however when I check the antifreeze in the coolent tank, it shows its full, but its cold?? this the case of a sticky thermostat?? once i start to drive off again it cools back down. It's really warm in the radiator but not in the resivour tank

cooling system is pressureized and uses the overflow/coolant tank. when it heats up the water expands and some of it will go into the tank, when the motor is shut off or cools the water contacks and fluid is drawn back into the radiator. thats why the coolant fluid in the tank is not hot. the motor running hot can be a bunch of things. fans not coming on, therostat sticking radiator pluged up are a few that i can think of. 200 to 230 is pretty close to were it should run with stock thermo. i have a 180 degree thermo in mine.

I would start with checking that your fan comes on, if it does its not the relay. From there Id got with a thermostat and work on from there. Like Craby said 200 isn't really overheating, especially if your in stop and go traffic.

your right the fans are not coming on... i checked all the relays and they all are fine. I can get the fans to kick on when I put it in trouble code mode when you jump the OBD plug, but wont come on while the motors on?? any other places i should look?

There is a fan switch I believe located in the water pump. On my 94 this caused my fans not to come on.

see if this helps. looks like theres only a few things it could be. check to see if wires are connected maybe unplug and check for lose contact.

That helps a lot!! thanx!! It must be a wire or something, I sanded the grounds, checked them with a test light, everything checks out. I check all the relays, the relays are getting power. If you hook strieght power up to them they work, so i know they are in working shape... I must be missing something somewhere?????
