Default can't diagnos

hey guys, well my check engine light sometimes comes on but then cuts off, and when i try to connect the check engine light diagnostic tool the water pump and a/c fan turn on...don't know what it could be looking for any suggestion that can help...thanx

fans come on when you enter the diagnostic mode. what year and motor?

Yea the fans and water pump come on...its a 94 chevy camaro Z28 with the LT1

What craby was saying is it's normal for the fans to come on when in diagnostic mode, it's a "survival mode" thing. And your water pump comes on? Then someone replaced the factory cam driven mechanical pump with an electric one. Curious where they tapped power from.

Yea every time I plug the diagnostic tool in they turn on and it doesnt give me any codes the service engine soon light stays on...didnt all lt1 engines come factory with an electric water pump???

Nope, the LT1 came with a mechanical drive water pump, connected to a gear driven shaft off the cam. If you can look between the back of your pump and the timing chain cover, you'll see the drive shaft hole in the cover that would have gotten plugged.

Well didnt kno that one...this is my 1st LT1 so excuse me if I say some off the wall stuff I have herd...
