I have a '96 Z28 that I bought new, has only 23K on it and I've had to replace both window motors. Use a Delco Remy motor instead of the OEM from Chevy. Cheaper and lasts.

The only problem I've ever had with my windows is the passenger side is significantly slower than the driver side. Of course, when I bought the car, the previous owner must have been retarded because my passenger side review mirror was bent down, so it pulled the window out all funny, so maybe that put some extra stress on the motor.

When you change the motor give the window mechanism a good lube job. Also check the voltage at the window motor when is is running. If the voltage drops more than 2 Volts below the voltage at the battery, it will cause the motor to overheat and eventually die. In this case look for oxidized connectors and frayed wires.

I got a new motor from Ebay and as I took off my door panel, I sow that it was not as easy as it seemed. How do I get to the window motor? Is it better to pay someone to do it?

It is a little tricky and you have to drill out rivets and drill a hole through the mechanism to keep the spring from flying out. Would be good to have a service manual to follow, and avoid making things worse.

I had my DS window motor die and i thought it was a simple fix. Bought the motor from AutoZone or some place like that and replaced the motor. i had to take out the speaker to get to it and then after all that work, the motor died again. auto zone said it was a bad motor so they gave me a new one. on the way home i saw a guy on the side of a road putting a new window motor on a truck. i found out he did it part time and asked him to do mine. $100, now its right as rain.
