so I got an estimate for a cam swap and installing the heads and all that and they said 20 hours~$2000. I was expecting about half that..is this average or are they crazy? lol

is it really not that hard? i mean i'd have to take the engine out wouldnt i? the only things ive ever worked on cars is replacing the intake with a CAI, and then suspension stuff like shocks and bushings.

the best thing you can do to help get it back together is take tons of pics during the tear down and label everything but if your gunna get the heads off you can do alot more while your there to help your engine if you take off the oil pan you can get the pistons out and clean up the cylinders port and polish the intake resurface the heads maybe replace the rings to help out the compression engines are actually very simple machines if you look past all the electrical and all the bolts if you were to have a shop do all this youd be looking at like 6-7K btw how many miles are on her

ive completely torn engines apart b4 as in there was nothing left to take apart and the pics and lables deff was the reason the engine ran again with 69K miles you shouldnt see to much damage but i assure you there is id say read about it ALOT b4 you start but yes do it yourself unless your completely loaded and dont forget if you run into some sort of a problem theres thousands of us here that love to help where are you at maybe someone that reads this will be close and could give you a hand but this will put your car out of commission for (if you work on it everyday) about a week
