Default big tranny issues, PLEASE HELP!!!

Alright so I crack the bell housing in my 96 Z28 and I pulled the tranny and if I'm not mistaken they came with a 4l60e correct? Well when I got it out it was a one piece tranny so I couldn't replace the bellhousing I bought for a 4l60e. But anyways, the tranny that came out loks exactly like a 700r4 with all the with electrical hookups. and the only 700r4's i can find don't have any of the hook ups for the sensors and what not. So could somebody plaese tell me if a 96 Z came with any other auto trans other than the 4l60e. Any help would be awesome and greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kyran.

You would still have the 4L60E, used since 1993-ish.
But the 1996 is supposed to be the separate bellhousing style.

The 700R4 and 4L60 is the same trans. It only received a name change in the later years of its life. 4L60E is the electronic version, and it was still a one piece unit until 1996 (unless GM did a mid-year change). Or possibly someone may have swapped in a 1995 trans? See if you can find any cast numbers on the case to check the date.
