Default Best cam to install?

I'm restoring my LT1 1997. I will keep engine quite original but want to upgrade to a better cam shaft. Seems to be hard to find. Any suggestions? Please ad links to your suggestions.

Cam choice is based on a lot of factors. There is no best CAM. What is better? better gas mileage? Better 1/4 mile time? Better top end max HP? Better low end torque out of the whole? That is 4 very different CAMs.

you might try one of these from elliotts. then when you want more you wont have to go any farther than the heads.

please understand that if you change to a cam with more lift that the stock one you will need to upgrade your valve springs and retainers.

I found that GM hotcam may be perfect. No mods needed and all included in a cam kit. Any idea where to buy this cam kit for best price (and service)? RockAuto doesn't sell the cam. I live in Sweden and have to order from a US webstore.

What about this cam kit: COMP CAMS PART #K07-304-8. Is it a better replacement than LT1 hot cam kit? Read more at
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMP-CAM-CHEVY-LT1-LT4-266-276-500-510-XTREME-ENERGY-HYD-ROLLER-CAMSHAFT-KIT-/181116667488?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &hash=item2a2b650660&vxp=mtr#ht_2827wt_1161

What I want from the cam kit is good idle and mid range Power. No need for racing etc.
