any write ups or tips on replacing clutch/ dropping trans ?
I have replaced clutches before but never on on a camaro, i searched and couldnt find any write ups on the subject so i thought i would ask. Are there any out of the ordinary procedures ? how bad of a job is it and how long does it usually take to replace a clutch ? any helpful tips or tricks ?my car is a 96 Z28

1 jack up the car, place on jack stands.
2 unbolt and pull out the drivshaft and torque arm
3 unbolt the shifter and remove it from above
4 unbolt the crossmember and allow the weight of the transmission to lean the motor backward
5 unplug the wiring harness from the transmission.
6 unbolt the slave cylinder pull out the clutch fork [off the throwout bearing] (dont depress the clutch after this it will throw out the piston)
6 i prefer to unbolt the transmission from the bell housing because there is not much room to reach the bellhousing bolts without alot of extensions and a universal.
7 the transmission will pull straight out and back off the shaft. Some poeple use a transmission jack, i have used a motorcycle jack before but i usually just rock it around and pull it out onto my chest. Then i roll it off to the side.
8 unbolt the presure plate from the flywheel, catch the clutch it may fall through.
9 inspect the flywheel to see if it has cracks or scalloping (turn if necessary).
Repeat the process in reverse order for assembly.
This is easy to do, just takes time and effort should take about two hours both ways.

I'm just going to add three things.
For the clutch fork, pull it out towards the drivers side, that had me all messed up the first time I did one.
When you're putting the tranny back in, if you tilt the engine back with a jack on the front of it it'll help line it up.
And finally, when you putting the tq arm back in, if you jack up the pumkin, then it will help it line up also.
