I am losing coolant when the engine is running I can see steam coming from the area just below the valve cover and there is white smoke from the exhaust not much but it is there it's a 1995 z28 5.7l engine with 116000 mi I need advice could it be the intake manifold or is it the head gasket the car idles smooth and starts right up. thanks in advance for your help.

Check all of your hoses carefully; I had a pinhole leak in one of my hoses once that sprayed right on the exhaust manifold... And you'll lose coolant quickly... empty your cooling system, fill it with water, then get a pressure tester and test for leaks. Make sure when you bleed your system, you do it properly. See here:

tell location better, is the steam coming from front rear or side of motor? rent a coolant system pressure tester and do a pressure test on it. if its leaking you should be able to find it. if its a gasket it will also lose pressure. compression test on all cylinders would also tell you more about what is going on.
