Default Antifreeze bubbling out of overflow cap???

I just bought a 1995 z28 about a month ago, and it has been doing the weirdest thing. It has been bubbling antifreeze out of the overflow cap on the radiator, it doesn't really get hot everytime it does it, but just a couple. I have changed the thermostat twice thinking that it would fix it, but it seems like most people lean toward a blown head gasket. But if it were a blown head gasket wouldn't there be more problems that just antifreeze bubbling out?? Could it possibly be vapor locking or something?? I really need some help guys, I don't want to go and replace my heads and stuff and it be something minor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have your coolant tested for the presence of combustion gases, which would indicate a blown gasket. Vapor lock does not take place in engine coolant.

I'd start out by replacing your radiator cap. if it's old and doesn't hold pressure then it will leak out the overflow. My 96 did exactly the same thing and all it was was the radiator cap. if it doesn't work then you didn't spend that much money anyway.

I had a problem similar to this, I agree have the vapor test done that will let you know if its a head gasket or not

My son has a 1999 SS Camaro and his car is overflowing coolant through the overflow cap. One mech told us it was coolant fans not working. Help!

If it's not getting that hot, then the fans have no reason to come on. If it's alot coming out the overflow, you check the radiator cap. If the radiator is full, then a little bit through the overflow is to be expected.
