New gears obviously aren't going to help you hook up, so it sounds like you have two separate things here. Unfortunately one of them works away from the other.
Traction: Good tires make a HUGE difference. If you don't have to deal with snow (or much rain) a good drag radial will drastically improve traction.
Gears: as others have said 3.73 if you have an auto, 4.11 for a 6 speed. If you're thinking of getting a new rearend you may thing about a Strange S60 or a 12-bolt.

yeah my plan is to 4:11 the rear end and when i do that get radials so i can defenetily grip when i take off! however i do deal with a great deal of snow durrin the winter (sucks being in north west ohio) but i was gonna get a seperate pare of rims and put tires that are better off in the snow...

if your main focus is traction right now get some good DR i prefer nittos but thats just me. if you are trying to make your car faster and worried about traction (highway racing) then go with gears

Well, new gears are not going to help you at all in the snow. In fact, they're going to make it worse. In my opinion you're going about this in the wrong way, I would go tires, then think about gears, but maybe that's just me...
