Default AIR & Front Pass. Plug!

1997 Z28. Have the Y pipe off. Gutted cats. Changed drivers side plugs and wires in about an hour taking my time. Can't get to passanger side front plug because an AIR tube is in the way. Can I take off the AIR Tubes and pump and I guess plug manifolds where tubes go in without messing up PCM? Also, replacing the plug wires on passanges side with Taylor 8mm, looks like I have to undo the line from the power steering pump to get wires to set back in stock location. IF anyone has any tips, PLEASE reply. I will post how I did this job once completed. It may help the next guy. Thanks a bunch in advance!

Being that you have no cats, you can remove the AIR tubes without any consequences as long sa you plug off the holes. You can also remove the AIR pump, but the PCM might complain about it. You will probably need some double jointed tools or double jointed person to remove the plugs from the drivers side, but it is a lot easier if you remove the AC compressor & starter, and drop the head pipe from the exhaust manifold.

Invest in a spark plug ratchet, those things are lifesavers for almost any job on an LT1. If you can't get a ratchet or spark plug socket on it period, they sell 12 point closed in wrenches that have a bend so they extend in about 2 inches more than a regluar wrench. That's what I have to use for a few of my plugs with Headers on the car.

I got it done. Found a guy's site that said to loosen two power steering pump bolts to make room to run passanger side wires. Good tip. I removed the AIR pump and pipes. Look at This guy's site for detailed wire change instructions with pics! www.shootmyphoto.com/lt1wires/
