cant say for sure, depends on what it really is. if its a lifter it could collapse and mess something up anytime, or not. ive run a noisy lifter for years before, did finally end up with a flat cam. the truck was toast anyways just used it to haul pots. i dont think anyone wants to say yah go ahead and have you come back and say the engine has a bent pushrod or valve through a piston. be best to find location if at all posible, check everything you can think of, plugs all in tight, egr pipe is not leaking, something is not rattling on the exhaust,

Would stock lifters be ok for an aftermarket cam or should I use something different?

i like comp cams. gm performance work too. bigger cam means bigger valve springs too. i have some tpis lifters in the lt1 now but i see they dont have them anymore, they look to be slightly modified comp cams. they sell what they call premium factory lifters now,,, not sure what that means. are you going with some 1.6 roller rockers?

Get some ls7 lifters, measure your pushrod length, and then order the right length push rod. Some people say they are direct replacement and have good luck and others have to order new pushrods

So I know it's been a little since I posted but I figured I would update yall. Pretty much it just got too cold for me to be able to do any work on the car so I'm pretty much just gonna run her through the winter and then next summer I'm planning on doing a cam swap with lifters and new top end anyway but from the sound of my car I'm about 99% sure that is justa lifter making the noise.
