Default Advice, on 94 Z Are convertibles problematic?

Hey guys new member hear, I don’t know a heck of a lot about camaros just what I’ve read from this and other forums. I’m about to buy a convertible 94Z with 84k miles for 4200 (maybe 4000 if I can get him to lower it); it’s got an auto tranny and paint that’s starting to flake off. Well the guy says its just the clear coat but I’m not sure I haven’t seen it yet, just a small pick, the add was on craigslist.com. The back window isn’t installed either, but that shouldn’t be a biggy, he has a window I guess it just needs to be installed. I got a quote for that and Its around 80-100$. Other then that he says its flawless. Are the convertibles problematic or is there any reason I should reconsider my decision? I’m supposed to meet the guy tomorrow (Sat) and look it over with my dad. I’d appreciate your guy’s input, thanks.

The car isn't realy worth that any way. The miles aren't bad but it's not a 6spd. staight shifts hold a better resale value. I wouldn't buy one unless it was a staight shift. Unless it was in real good shape. I give $4,000 for a 95 6spd Z28 2 years ago.

This is a 76 l/t, IF you had to choose what would it be the 94, or the 76....

The z28 will be faster, easier to drive, and nicer to look at. I would go with the 94 all the way. I would think $3500 for that car is a bargain. The cars are reliable and fun. Sure it's not a 6-speed, but the verts are holding their value okay, just not so much in the Great Northwest.

Yeah I looked at it Sunday, It was alot nicer than I had expected. Has a few probs but nothing a little tlc cant fix, it runs and drives like a dream. I’m used to my parents 97 Odessy and 85 civic hatch… [:'(]
I’m picking it up Wednesday; once I get the window installed I’ll be looking for some advice on how to make the most of it. Speaking of which, anyone have a cold air intake on there Z? Any noticeable changes?

Thanks for your input too btw,

Jake
