97' Z28 wont start!!
so heres my problem, i have 1997 camro Z28 n well what happened is that when i was driving one day on the highway it died , i was going 150mph n bam all my lights and everything went out n so i pulled over n then got it towed to my house but in the process noticed that my k&n filter was missing its a pretty big filter sooooo im guessing it fell off before i got on the highway, but long story short i havent been able to start my car i took the intake manifold off and changed the valve covers but need news ones cuz the ones i bought are not good. also there were two hydralic lifters that were busted so i took the the rollers off and insepcted them only two were bad and now i put most of my parts together but when i got into my car i put the keys in and then car wont even have its lights turn on but when i connect it to a electric charger all my lights and flashers and emergency flashers turn on. but when i try to crank it just dies or makes a clicking sound and then just slows n dies again it doesnt even roll. i have no idea whats the problem. if anyone can help i would appreciate this if you need more info i will let you know

sounds like a dead battery. hook the charger up to it for a few hours. im gona guess the alternator is bad and/or u have some bad connections at the battery terminals or the battery is shot. or all of the above. unhook the battery wires and clean the battery terminals and the wire ends with a wire brush.

I would put a breaker bar and socket on the crank pulley, try to turn it over and make sure the engine isnt seized up.sounds like it might be since you say "it wont even roll over".And 2 busted lifters...sounds like some damage there. Why you doing 150 mph on the freeway in the middle of winter?

well your lights not turning on separate from the car not starting really would be two different problems then (dead battery or bad connections for the lights, bad alternator for the engine like craby said) or maybe a shot starter? not too sure, but like dc14u2no said, wtf were you doing 150 in the middle of winter in CHICAGO for?? lol
did you clean out everything in the intake? maybe something got sucked up in there before or while on the highway and fudged everything up?

well no i wasnt doing 150 in the middle of winter it was fall back then the car has been in my garage for almost a year. its been 8 months and well i replaced the battery and now it started to roll but like a slow roll not doing anything to so im just going to take the engine out and replace pretty much everything

sounds like you might have something binding internally.perhaps related to busted lifters.might be more internal damage than initially suspected.pulling/dropping the engine isnt an easy chore.good luck and keep us informed
