You didn't list a price...

If it's in good condition, it has low miles, it's probably worth at least a look. Major concerns with an LT1 car is the optispark distributor and the infamous oil leak. The oil leak isn't anything to really worry about though, it's just annoying. If it's for a good price I don't see any reason why you woudln't want to go for it, except that gas is getting pretty expensive [&:]

Sounds a little expensive, even if it is in great condition with low miles. You could easily find a 98+ with an LS1 (although I don't like how they look as much), but it will be faster. Kelly Blue Book suggests 10K if it's in excellent condition from a dealer.

yeah, it is a little much, i did look at kelly blue book. it is the 30th anniversary edition though, not sure if that makes THAT much of a price difference. i cant go too far to get the car. and i have been looking for it for about 2 months now and i want it...

Any 97 is considered an "Anniversary Edition" but only the Special Editions (SS or Z28) bring a higher price. All the Special Editions were Arctic White with Hugger Orange racing stripes.

this car has the SS logo's on it and the seats are embossed with the 30th Anniversary logo, but there is no other mention of 30th anniversaryand it is black w/ charcoal interior. the salesman stated that the car is a limited edition model and only a handful are made. is this true?

technically he's correct about a handful being made, but only because its an ss. like slvr said, the real collectors are the white with orange stripes. he's trying to make you think you're getting a real special car, which you are but not as special as he wants you to think. notice i have a 97 ss convertible so i've done some homework. what i'd do is look at the SLP options that came on the car. that could add some value if it were me. oh, i paid 12,500 for my car with the same mileage in damn near mint condition 3 years ago. just some food for thought

it will be MORE rare because its an SS, however it is not collectible without being the white with orange stripes
