Default 96 Z28 ABS/TC Issues

So I'm finally home for Christmas break, so I want to get some work done on the car (especially since I probably won't have enough time in the month I'm home between graduation and moving into my apartment). One of the things that needs fixing is the ABS/Traction Control, which hasn't worked as long as I've owned the car). Yeah I know that I can get along fine without it (I have the last two summers), but if something on the car is supposed to work, I would rather have it work, you know?

So anyway, last time I had it somewhat looked into (which was about 2 years ago), the shop said they tried to scan the ABS module and they simply couldn't communicate with it, no matter how they tried. So do you think that I just need a new ABS module, and my ABS/TC will work? Or is there another issue?

You can either take it to a dealer and see if they can scan the system and give you an estimate, but that will cost you pretty good.

Or, you can go to a wrecking yard and see if you can find a module to get for cheap and see if it gets you working.

^ I agree with this. If the module is not communicating with the rest of the system it could be faulty.

yeah, the module was originally my thought too. As far as taking it to a dealer goes, the shop tried scanning the system and simply couldn't communicate with it, so I feel like a dealer probably wouldn't be any more successful. I'll have to see if I can find a module anywhere around here, but Z28s are pretty tough to find in junkyards around here.

so I was checking on car-part.com, and my search came up with "Chassis Control Box" as the part description. Does that make sense? And is it the same thing for a base car as for a Z28?

well i just googled "96 z/28 ABS module" And found it listed as ABS control module on a couple of parts sites. You could look at some pics to make sure its the same.
