Default 96 LT1

Anyone out there. After five+ years of ownership, I've had two mechanics tell me that I have aluminum heads on my LT1.My options sheet says H.O. (high output) 350. I've tried all over the net and there's not much info to be had. Anybody know anything about this? bearZ28

i believe the camaro's/vettes/firebirds have an extra 20 hp because of the aluminum heads.

Not really, the iron heads actually flow better, probably because they were developed after the aluminum heads. The Camaros and Vettes have a hotter cam than the full body cars because they weigh less and don't need the low end torque. Put a Corvette cam in an Impala and it becomes a real slug off the line. Also, the Camaro and Vette run about 1 point higher compression, but that doesn't add up to 20 HP.
Impala LT1 valve lift Intake 0.418" Exhaust 0.430"
Camaro LT1 valve lift Intake 0.450" Exhaust 0.460"
