'95 z28 turn signal switch
Hi all:
Just bought a '95 z28. How much work is it to replace the turn signal switch in the column. The left turn signal doesn't cancel and the hi-beam switch doesn't work. Do I need any special tools for this job? Is it something a relative novice can do?
Also, the driver side window is very loose in the door and doesn't always go up. Does the inside of the door need to be rebuilt or is it just a matter of replacing the power window regulator?
Thanks
Duane

Yes you need a steering wheel puller and a special spring compressor.
Generally no but it is not super complicated. A lot of it would depend on you.
The power window raises and lowers the window but the window runs in guides. It sounds like your guides need some attention.

The job is a real pain in the ***... I had to do the same thing on my 95z. Your gonna need a steering wheel puller and Lock Plate Retaining Ring Removal tool a set of torx bits and regular hand tools. Not something id try myself had i never done it before. You might look into getting a entire used steering colomn alot easier to just change it out. Thats what i will do should it ever need it again. With the right tools, repair info and patience it can be done. Hope this helps. Good luck

dimmer can be adjusted. look here https://camaroforums.com/forum/4th-g...mn-info-64804/ look to see if there is slop in the blinker/dimmer switch base. mine started moving so i put a small black zip tie around the columm to hold it.

ive done some of these chevy turn signal switches without removing the wheel. I had to use a torx bit, the kind that goes in a nut driver that uses the removable bits and a 1/4" in box wrench over it to turn it. but the first time i ever did one, it was an astro van, i did it in half of the book time. Most of these do require removing the wheel and airbag which should be done by a shop.

The blinkers do not come on at all.. My hazards do work though... I believe it is either the flasher or the switch in the steering colomn. Is this correct? If so do you have any advice on how to further pin point where the problem is located?

blinker flasher is on the passenger side of the steering coluum. http://shbox.com/1/flashers.jpg looks like if the brake lights work the wiring is good for the blinkers. http://shbox.com/1/exterior_lights.htm lets hope its the blinker flasher
