Default 95 Z28, should i buy?

A friend at work told me about a z28 setting at his neighbor's house for sale. The guy wants 2500 for it. The car has 155000 miles and he says the transmission and top end of the motor have been rebuilt. According to him it's making 375hp. The interior is rough, to say the least. Probably need new seats, rewire the power sliding seat, new console cover, new glove box, and new window traks on the driver's side.

I'll post pics, I'm on my phone now and can't yet. But for 2500, IF the engine seems to be in good shape, is that a fair price?

Oh, and I couldn't start it, the guy's having a new key made. He was robbed a few months ago and they stole the key from his house. I'll be going back there in a week to really check it out.

It sounds sketchy... I'd have it checked by a mechanic before anything. It sounds kinda beat up... it saddens me...

I agree, I would be very cautious about it.

Definitely have a mechanic check it out... I'd stay well away from it if the engine leaks more than a drop of anything. leaky engine + rough interior (usually)= beat up Camaro. At least that's kindof how I see it...

I bought a Firebird in the same way and I found myself fixing it almost every weekend, it got old after a few months. So I ended up selling it and buying a much nicer Camaro. Just my 2c and a story for the road...

Think of it this way:

If the car is all beat up, that means the previous owner didn't care about it. Which also probably means that they neglected the powertrain as well. Do you really want to take that risk? I bought my car for $3000, and look at its condition:

Just something to think about before you waste your money. I've done that 4 times in the past...
