i thought the standard trany had 342s and the auto had 323s. could be most have the 342s in 94, 93s were mostly 323. posi is limited slip. it means u have a limited amount of slip (via clutch plates in the third member of the rearend) in the rear end so the car will corner without the tires jumping on one side. the slip does not happen when the car it going straight so both wheels get the same amount of mtraction.

Not sure why you didn't include '93's but a lot of 4th gen Z28's with the A4 trans have 2.73's like mine.

Not sure what you mean by "real posi" if you mean straight posi like a drag race spool well no but then no street going factory rear end ever did.
They all have some sort of limited slip if a factory posi so the outer wheel can spin faster going around a corner.
Never head of '93 having different gears that later years aside from the 6 speed not having higher than 3.43 gears after that year, don't believe that's so with autos, pretty sure 2.73's were available in all 4th gen automatics.

for a 93 i show only two ratio options in my book. the gu2 273 and gu5 323. i think in 94 the 343 was available.

Default Gears

If my understanding is correct, 94-97 had 3 options" gu4=2.73, gu5=3.23, gu6=3.42. The last option was only available with the m6 cars. The automatics could come with 2.73 or 3.23 gears depending on the option chosen. If your car is automatic and if your shifter has a "1" as the lowest gear option you can choose through the shifter then you should have 3.23 gears; assuming, no one has previously changed the rear end gears. The easiest way to determine this is to look up the code on the sticker located inside the glove box. That will tell you your rear end gear ratio, again assuming that no one has changed the gears before you owned the car.

ya i had heard about that plus the 6 speed tranny in the 93s had a little higher gearing thats y they came with lower rear end gears so if you put higher gears youre really waking these already monstrous cars up even more lol and about the posi thanks haha its cuse i notice it spins a little more with one tire hehe

My 93z A4 came factory w- 3.42's I still have the documentation stating so. 2.73's seem like they would be awesome for highway cruising & MPG.

They are,my '93 Z28 is lowered a couple inches but aside from that and a Flowmaster catback is completely stock,I can get 29 mpg at 65-70 mph on the freeway.
