Default 94 Camaro, just got a Hypertech Programmer

Ok so0o0 I was at the track last saturday and ran my car and best I got out of 4 runs before my water pump went out was a 13.8.. I know I can do better because it wouldent shift, when it ran through a gear and went to shift it would bounce off the govenor for about a second or 2 before it would shift.. So0o0o when I was replacing the water pump I removed the smog pump and took all the egr crap off and put a solid bolt in the manifolds. just got it all togather and hooked up a programmer i just bought and IDK how to adjust the shift points... I thought it would ask the RPM I wanted it to shift at but it dont.. also everyone is saything they gained 25 hp and get 5 more mpg with it.... HOW THE HELL IS THAT DONE!!! lol if anyone knows how to work these things plzzzzzzzZZZz Help me!!

Hypertech Programmer 3, it says you can adjust your shift points is why I bought it..... I figured it would say like what rpm do you want it to shift at but it says +/- mph and thats kinda GAYYYY lol

That's the manual that comes with the programmer, have a hard copy in my garage . I can't remember what I set my shift points to exactly (don't have the report one me at the moment) but that manual will definitely help you out. If I can find the report I'll let ya know what the points are, had it set up for the strongest snap your neck shifts I could get outta the thing .

BTW, 5mpg extra seems somewhat reasonable, but 25hp?? I haven't seen anywhere close to that much gain, maybe 5 or 10max but I think +25hp is just one of those labels to sell their product, like what you see with CAIs they "guarantee" +20hp but in reality you only get a few at the most.

I guess the only thing I can really do is rip the tranny out and get another!!...I just put this tranny n about 2 months ago tho.....its a 4l60e....if someone else had the same problem plzzZZzz let me know!!

set it to shift later not sooner. like +5 or 6 etc not -14 that's not doing anything for you

Changing shift points from stock is not going to accomplish much unless you have more mods than you posted. Set shift points below the rev limiter setting otherwise you will have problems with hitting the rev limiter before the shift. Also before changing to a different tranny check the shift linkage and make sure it is adjusted properly.

try setting your rev limiter at 6500 and setting 1-2 at +6 and your 2-3 at +8 you can leave the 3-4 alone. see how that works. it should still shift before hitting the rev limiter

You just replaced the tranny? Was it a reman or just a used one out of the junk yard? When was the last time you did a complete service on it?

If you are having problems with the tranny shifting, and reading your first post you had problems BEFORE the tuner, no tuner is going to fix it.

Tuners only work well with a car that is running properly before you start messing with shift points and such. If there is an internal problem with the tranny, or with your PCM, you need to fix that first.
