not really sure i havent given you this info allready, im gona say it will have to be torn down so find out so either get a rebuilt or do it your self. im not so sure i would want to rebuild if theres any metal shavings in the oil. you can get a rebuilt compitition trans for a good price and come out pretty good if you install. heres a couple good places if your interested

So you decided not to sell your car I take it?
4L60 is a 700R4, just with the new fancy name designation that GM changed over to.
The only way I would buy a "rebuilt" one, is if the seller had legitimate receipts to prove it, and from a reputable builder.
And thanks. What's it run? Like a raped ape! I haven't had it down the strip, and don't want to until I replace all the front suspension bushings. It's too worn for pushing it to that extreme. For now, it's happy just being a street toy.

93 was the only year for the 4L60 tranny. In 94 they went to the 4L60E. The internals of the 2 trannys are about the same but the "E" tranny has elecrtonic shifting and is controlled by the computer. There is a difference in 700R4 trannys over the years so you cant just put any old 700R4 in your car. Some have gearing for trucks, some have bellhousings for BOPC engines, some have electric modulation some have vacuum modulation this all depends on the year and what the trans came off of. What I would do is either have a local trans shop rebuild yours (if it can be) or go to your local O'Reilly's or Advance Auto and buy a new one. Oh and remember there is no such thing as a "new" 4L60/700R4 any more even from GM, they are all rebuilt.

I would avoid places like AAMCO and other large chain shops that deal with trannys, it seems that they like to cut corners as much as possible to maximise profits. Smaller and local shops may cost you a few $$ more but the quality of work will be better. One customer to them can make a difference to large places one customer is nothing.

What tranny do I need 2 get? PPl sayin I can use t350 with my tailshaft?? I know NOTHING about trannys... Out of what cars will the tranny bolt right up? And what do I need as far as modulation? I want it to bolt up, I have aftermarket speedo so thats not a concern. But what is the best trans to run with the LT1? Thx again 4 all post

No the TH350 died in the early 80's. Your car will have the 700R4 or also known as the 4L60. The 4L60 was different than the 4L60E dont get them confused. The 1993 was the only year of 4th gens to use the 4L60 trans. Find a reputable trans shop and they can help you get the right one including the correct tail shaft and bellhousing.

i think i covered this in the other thread. you will want a 700r4/4l60 with the same 5 pin plug that your 93 has. you can leave it unpluged but the coverter will not lock up. that will cause a loss of mpg and make the trans run a little hotter so it will not last as long.
