93 Z28 **Rough** Idle
Hi everyone,
I've owned this car for 4 years, it was my very first camaro. When i first got it the SES light was on, and it kind of sputtered a little now and then. The tranny went on me at 123,000 miles, and i had it rebuilt. I drove it from illinois to alabama and back for the break in period. When I got back the exhaust busted weld right behind the cat. So i took it off, and havent put a new one on since. My problem is, the past few times ive drove it the idle is way rough. It can idle high, then jump real low and flutter in between(almost dies). When i try to drive it, it sputters and cuts out so bad You would wonder how it even runs. What could cause this problem? Sometimes it cuts out at higher rpms too, and sometimes it doesnt. I did find out about a year ago, that one of the lines from the charcoal canister is not hooked up to anything because I can tug on them where they go through the frame and hear them flopping around. Any ideas on where to start? I'm almost to the point of selling this because frankly it has become more of a money pit, than a decent ride!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

scann it for trouble codes and see if anything comes up. he may have unhooked the battery which clears the codes and retained engine profile. u can use a paperclip to scann but a scanner will tell u more. i have gotten one code on mine flashing it and 8 with the scanner.

Hi,
I replaced all the plugs when I had to put new manifold gaskets on. I didn't get all the wire, because some I couldn't get too. Ill run the scanner again and see what it comes up with. I'll let you guys know when I scan it again what I come up with. Thanks for the input

yah the ones on the passenger side suck to do. did mine when i did the opti so all that stuff was out of the way. i think when the headers go in im going to switch to the multi coil setup and not use the dang opti cept for the cam and crank sensors.
