Default 93 t-56

I know the 93 T-56 is a little different, a little weaker and maybe better gearing then then the 94-02 models. But what about a 93 Vett T-56. Does anyone know if they where the same as the 93 Z28.

I am going to look at a drive line from a 93 Vett for my 93 Camaro project. He is asking $1000 for the LT1 and $1000 for the T-56 (complete) I have the one from my 93 Z but I might be able to work a package deal on the whole drive line. I am looking for a reason to buy it

So far I have found the the 93 is actually a Borg Warner GM did offer two version. The M28 and the M29. From what I have read Trans-ams and Vets had the M29

93 F-body with (M28) 6 speed Torque rating 360 lbs-ft. Has 2.73's - GU2
1st: 3.36
2nd: 2.07
3rd: 1.35
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.80
6th: 0.62

93 F-body with (M29) 6 speed Torque rating 400 lbs-ft. Has 3.23's - GU5
1st: 2.97
2nd: 2.07
3rd: 1.43
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.80
6th: 0.62

94+ F-body with (MN6) 6 speed Torque rating 450 lbs-ft. Has 3.42's - GU6
1st: 2.66
2nd: 1.78
3rd: 1.30
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.74
6th: 0.50

The 89-93 C4 Vette has a ZF6 "black tag" (German made) 6 speed, not a T56. 94-96 has the "blue tag" ZF6 made in the USA. Bellhousing to trans mounting is different, as may be the shifter location, so bring a tape measure with you. Since it was mated to the Vette LT1, it will bolt up to your LT1 as long as it comes with the bellhousing. Where the shifter pokes through the floor may be different though. Most everything you need to know about converting is here: ZF6 Transmission faq/information - Corvette Forum : DigitalCorvettes.com Corvette Forums

Thanks for the link. I almost PM'ed you since a Vet was involved. Any idea how they would compair to a M29? Based on the above gear ratio that is what I have in the Garage. I will keep searching. The part I left out was the fact this setup was already converted and installed in a 93 Z28 so the computer is reflashed for the Vett motor. It cost him 6K for the motor and trans he put 10,000 miles on it and drove into a guard rail. It also has a GM preformance clutch (I never heard of that) If I buy the trans. I am thinking of offering him $1800 for the whole setup.

The black tag is more desirable, torque rated at 450 lb-ft, but they have more of a gear whine.
Blue tag has quieter gears, a little weaker box, and is rated at 400 lb-ft.

Now I am wondering if it is BS about the tranny being out of a Vett. The convertion looks like a pain. Crossmember change, semi custom clutch and a different yok. I could not find anyone who did it, mostly because of the price to the ZF's and the fact they are not any stronger then the common 94-up Borg Warner LT1 T-56. Even the 93 M29 was rated at 400 Ft/lbs

Yeah, I don't think I'd go out of my way to swap in a ZF6, not if you can find the better T56. Now, if I had one sitting in the garage just collecting dust, it'd be tempting. There's a number of things that you would need to change over, a can of worms. And don't forget about the stock torque arm mount too, the Vette trans won't have it. Still worth a look to see what that guy has, you never know. By the way, what are your engine plans for your 93?

LOL the guy is clueless. Its a Camaro/firebird drive line. His brother put it together for him but he is stationed over seas. Luckly his brother kept all the receits. Seem the drive line was bought from a junk yard with 22K on it. The car has 11,000 miles on it since the install. It got all new gaskets, GM preformance Cam and GM prefomance clutch. I am not sure if the GM perfoamce cam is the LT4 "Hot Cam". Computer was tuned (I forget from where) for the cam. (Total bill was 6K). We will see cause I bought the motor should be here Sunday. Still not sure if I going for the tranny or not.
