6 speed trans

hello everyone. i have the t56 trans and i can't shift into 2,4, or 6th anymore. so i figure its time for a rebuild, my question is how hard is it to do it your self. ive rebuilt motors and been doing mechanics for years but i never meesed with taking a trans apart. so just wondering if its worth it to try or should i just pay someone? thanks for any advice.
.They said the parts were very expensive. They are a reputable company and they rebuilt a 4L60E for me 2 years ago. The price for the auto repair was reasonable and the tranny ran superb. Given this, I assume that they were in line with other tranny repair prices.
