1996 Z28 Bad Fuel Pump
So I took my car to get the fuel pressure checked today and its running at 12 psi. I guess it is supposed to run at 41 to 47 psi. the guy told me it would cost $780 to fix because they have to pull the rear end out to drop the tank. Does this price make sense? In my opinion it does because I know how hard it is to do anything to these cars. But I wanted to see if i should take it to another place to get a second opinion?

well it can never hurt to call around and check prices. but if you have the ability to do it yourself, then i would do that. its not all to hard to drop the rearend and drop the tank, unless its full of gas, then you have a problem.

I did mine with just jacks and Jack stands. Ya don't need lifts but I'm sure it would make things alot easyer and quicker. But if you have to have someone do it. I'd say that would be a good price.

Search the 4th gen section for "Trap door" it makes it a two hour job and you will not even get dirty.
Watch out for the cheap autozone/avanced pumps from Airtex I think. They run about a 10% failure rate in the first 90 days.
