Default 1996 5.7 LT1 overheating

I have just purchased a 1996 camaro ss 5.7 LT1 that is overheating and fans won't come on. I replaced sensors on driver side head and the other on water pump. I took off sensor on radiator and cleaned it. Replaced thermostat and changed antifreeze. Straight wired the fans and still running hot. Any ideas as to what try?

You need to properly bleed the system or the air pockets will cause your car to overheat. Jack up the front of the car when filling.

For reference, fans kick on at 226 for low speed and 235 for high. Your car is not overheating unless it's reaching the red zone. These cars will yoyo between 210 and 230 in traffic.

Car is running real good, looking good, but no fans. Ran straight wire and they work. No power on plugs. Would this be brain box? Already switched out relays, no change.

The fans are set to come on between 220 to 230 degrees, just before the red mark on the temp gage. The computer reads the coolant temp sensor and activates the 3 fan relays as needed in order to get the proper fan speed. This engine is designed to run hot, and you may not be waiting long enough for the fans to come on. If you have AC, the fans should come on when you turn the AC on. If they do, then everything from the computer to the fans is good.

Cool

ye thanks for the help from everyone got the engine running cool and that's from the air bleed screws , still no fans and no ac cycling on or any signs of life there . So maybe my fan problem is related to the ac problem , going to check power there at the compressor tomorrow and see where I am at from there. Seems related.

Any news on your fans working or not? I have the same problem with a 96 z28 and I just cant figure out what it is.

I haven't had time to diagnose the problem. If you're a/c isn't powering on you may have the same problem as i do. Ifyou have any luck with it let me know and I'll do the same.

I might just change my PCM to see if that solves my problems. I pulled my coolant temp sensor and my fans work so I have eliminated the fan motors, relays and fuses from being the problem. I think the PCM's are just not giving the signal.

It's funny, we both buy 96 LT1's and have the same problem! hopefully one of us can figure something out.

I have also read and was told that when your a/c isnt charged then your fans wont turn on, even once your car is hot.
