Thanks for the info, I have also just found a 94 firebird lt1 that I may try to get. What is involed with installing a crank sensor?

you need to have the front cover with the place to put the crank sensor. then its easy. http://shbox.com/1/engine_front_diagram.jpg

In addition to the timing cover, you need the reluctor, the 96-up crank hub, and keyway.

i never noticed the balancers are different on the 96 97

Found another 95 lt1, I'm assuming its similar to using a 94 lt1?

Yes it would. On the plus side, that one would have the new style (vented) opti, so you wouldn't have to change the cam.
