Default 10/30 or 10/40 oil

i am new to this forum. i have a 95z28 camaro. i am currently running 5/30 castrol syntheic oil in my z. i have 168,000 miles on the car. i was curious if its wise for to use a light weight oil or should i switch to a more heavy weight oil. need advice please.

Isn't there a special oil for high mileage engines?
I remember hearing that it's suppose to keep the seals from leaking on higher mileage engines....or is it snake oil?
